Biography
Natalie Van Coevorden's journey into triathlon began in high school where she excelled in both swimming and cross country, sometimes training up to nine times a week in the pool. This dedication paid off in 2010 when she finished fourth at the Australian National Schools Triathlon, launching her into the sport professionally. She now trains full-time in Wollongong and Vitoria, Spain.
Natalie's international debut came in 2011 with a series of triathlon events across Oceania and Asia, securing several gold and silver medals. She experienced her first World Triathlon Series (WTS) race in 2012 in Sydney, finishing 39th. Her first significant international podium finish came a year later, in 2013, with a third-place at the Triathlon World Cup in Tongyeong.
From 2015 to 2017, Natalie competed around the world, notably achieving a fourth-place finish at the 2017 World Cup in Madrid. Her perseverance paid off in 2018 when she bagged her first WTS medal in Abu Dhabi, finishing third. In 2018 and 2019, she collected more accolades at the Mixed Relay World Championships in Hamburg.
Despite the setback of not qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics due to the pandemic, Natalie bounced back in 2022, making a stellar Commonwealth Games debut with a bronze medal in the triathlon mixed team relay and a 14th place in the women’s individual race. By June 2024, Natalie remained Oceania’s top-ranked triathlete, showcasing her enduring talent and commitment to the sport.
