Peter Armstrong, the organiser at Astley Park Bowls Club, wants to share a little about the folks running the show and how you can get involved. Peter’s keen to keep the vibe friendly and welcoming, so here’s the lowdown:
John Harrison has been with Astley Park Bowls Club for yonks—playing and helping out on the committee. Elected as Vice President in 2019, he's all in for driving the sport forward and supporting the club’s efforts. Want to chat with John? Drop him an email at johnharrison@astleyparkbowlsclub.uk.
Sarah Wilson took the plunge and joined the club in 2011. As Secretary, she’s your go-to for club events, member communications, and admin bits and bobs. Sarah’s dedicated to keeping everything ticking over smoothly and making sure everyone's having a good time. Need something from Sarah? Email her at sarahwilson@astleyparkbowlsclub.uk.
David Thompson handles the coffers as Treasurer. With over a decade under his belt at the club and a solid grip on finances, he ensures everything’s transparent and above board. Got a financial query? Email David at davidthompson@astleyparkbowlsclub.uk.
Mary Johnson’s been around for over 20 years and wears the Club Captain’s hat. She’s the one organising matches and comps, fostering team spirit, and cheering everyone on. Questions about games? Email Mary at maryjohnson@astleyparkbowlsclub.uk.
Astley Park Men's Bowls Club, nestled in the heart of Seaton Delaval, has been a gem of the community since 1931. It’s a lovely spot for bowlers of all experiences to get together, play, and enjoy.
The club's got a storied past and a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, they make sure everyone fits right in. Newbies? No worries. They offer coaching and gear to help you get started and even throw in some fun events like Jumble in the Park every Saturday at 1:30 pm where non-bowlers can dive into the action.
For those who fancy a bit of competition, the club’s in several leagues: Clegg League, Knight League, Blyth Valley Veterans League, and the Coast & District Hately League. Friendly rivalries and good times guaranteed.
There's always something happening at Astley Park. From social shindigs to club-level comps, you’ll never be bored. Keep an eye on the Club Diary to stay in the loop.
They’re also big on celebrating members' achievements, with an Honours Board showcasing past champs and key contributors. So, if you fancy joining, there’s a spot for you. The club welcomes players of all ages and skill levels, with membership fees to suit everyone.
Want to know more? Check out the Astley Park Men's Bowls Club website or reach out to the friendly committee members. They’re always ready to help.
