Associated Karate Schools (AKS) – Coombes Community Centre is a martial arts school located in Royston, Hertfordshire. The school offers traditional and sport karate tuition for children and adults, with classes taught by Chief Instructor Sensei Anthony Barrett, a 5th Dan.
AKS has been providing high-quality martial arts training since 1995, welcoming new beginners of all ages. They offer a trial lesson to new beginners, allowing them to experience the training before committing. Additionally, if you decide to join after the trial lesson, the remainder of the month is free.
The martial arts school is located in the Coombes Community Centre on Burns Road in Royston. The facility provides a safe and supportive environment for students to learn and practise karate. The centre also houses other community activities and events, making it a vibrant hub for the local community.
AKS has a strong focus on child safety and ensures that no child is left unattended before or after classes. Parents or guardians are responsible for dropping off and collecting their children at the designated area, where the instructor will be present.
Photography and video recording are permitted during AKS event days; however, it is strictly prohibited to publish or share any material on the internet or make it accessible to the public. Failure to comply with this rule may result in the loss of membership.
To maintain a high standard of training, AKS recommends obtaining all necessary equipment from the school itself. This ensures that the equipment meets the required standards and is suitable for the activities. It's worth noting that profits from equipment sales also contribute to subsidising AKS events.
AKS prioritises the well-being of its students and encourages individuals with known medical conditions to consult their doctor before undertaking any exercise. It is essential to inform the instructor about any such conditions. A medical condition declaration form is provided in which students can provide details of any known medical conditions or indicate if they have none.
By completing a student registration form, students, and parents/guardians agree to the terms and conditions set forth by AKS. This includes confirming that they do not have any medical conditions that would prevent them from participating in strenuous exercise and that they have never been convicted of a violent crime. They also consent to their details being held on the AKS computer system for the purpose of producing an annual licence with the English Karate Federation governing body.
Overall, Associated Karate Schools (AKS) – Coombes Community Centre in Royston is a reputable martial arts school that provides top-notch karate instruction for both children and adults. With a focus on safety, quality equipment, and a supportive community environment, AKS is committed to helping students develop their skills and achieve their martial arts goals.
