Not enough young players joining. However, Ashton Community Chess Club is here to change that narrative. As a Chess club and social club located in Ashton-under-Lyne, we aim to create a welcoming and inclusive space for chess enthusiasts of all ages, particularly those under the age of 18.
At Ashton Community Chess Club, our primary focus is on fostering a love for the game among young players. We believe that chess is not only a great way to develop critical thinking skills, but also a fantastic way to make new friends and build a strong sense of community. We understand that chess can be an intimidating game, especially for beginners, so our club provides a supportive and friendly environment where all skill levels are welcome.
Our club meets every Wednesday from 6:30pm to 9:00pm, including school holidays, at the Broadoak & Smallshaw Community Centre on Broadoak Road. The cost of each session is 2. 00, and refreshments are available to purchase on the night. Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting out, there's always an opportunity to learn, play, and improve your skills at Ashton Community Chess Club.
In addition to our regular club meetings, we also participate in chess tournaments and matches. We are proud members of the Manchester and Stockport Leagues, where our teams compete against other clubs in the region. These competitive events not only allow our members to put their skills to the test but also provide an avenue for personal growth and development.
If you're looking to take your chess skills to the next level or simply want to meet like-minded individuals who share your passion for the game, Ashton Community Chess Club is the place for you. We also encourage parents and guardians to get involved and support their child's interest in chess by attending our sessions or even becoming chess coaches themselves.
