Welcome to Ashburton Celtic Rugby Club, one of Mid-Canterbury's most successful sporting clubs. With a strong affiliation to Marist Rugby, our club members consistently earn positions in the New Zealand Marist Colts team. Pride in the Green Jersey runs deep in our club.
Located on 12 acres at Keenans Road, Newland, Ashburton, our club boasts playing members in all grades available within the 2021 Mid-Canterbury Competition. This includes our senior women's team competing in the CRFU Women's Competition. We have teams ranging from U6 to Senior grade for both men and women, as well as a squash club with around 60 members and a netball club with over 50 players.
Facilities at Ashburton Celtic Rugby Club include modern clubrooms with excellent changing facilities, a bar, and entertainment areas. Recent upgrades have enhanced the clubrooms, including painting, carpet, tables, and chairs. The clubrooms are available for hire, excluding the rugby season.
Our fields are of high quality, and we have recently invested in new training lights, making them the best night game fields in Mid-Canterbury. The Murney Stand, added in 2016, provides cover and prime viewing for our spectators. The squash courts and touch rugby activities during the summer months offer additional options for fitness and enjoyment.
We welcome inquiries and new players of all ages who are interested in joining our club. We prioritise supporting children's rugby and have dedicated time and effort to provide training equipment, such as a specially built scrum machine for 10 to 12-year-olds, ensuring safe and correct scrummaging techniques.
Outside the rugby season, our clubrooms are available for hire. Please submit your requests or inquiries to admin@ashburtonceltic. Co. nz.
