ARPA Bushwalkers, also known as Retire Active SA Bushwalkers, is a sports club located in Adelaide, South Australia. As an activity subgroup of Retire Active SA, which was established in 1981, ARPA Bushwalkers aims to provide a wide range of activities and services for older South Australians. With a membership of 480, it is one of the largest walking groups in the state.
The club organises over twenty day walks in and around Adelaide each month. These walks cater to a variety of fitness levels, ranging from gentle 2 to 3 hour strolls to challenging 5 to 6 hour hikes. Additionally, ARPA Bushwalkers holds a number of camps throughout the year, both within Australia and occasionally overseas. These camps offer the opportunity for members to participate in different walks each day, including long distance trails such as the famous Heysen Trail.
Moreover, the club actively encourages its members to engage in environmental conservation efforts by supporting various friends groups, such as Scott Creek or Sturt Gorge, and attending their weeding days.
Membership to ARPA Bushwalkers is available exclusively to financial members of Retire Active SA. Visitors are always welcome to join the walks and experience the friendly atmosphere of the group. They are allowed to participate in two walks as visitors, after which they are expected to become members of both Retire Active SA and the Bushwalkers. Membership forms can be downloaded from the club's website, and further information can be obtained from the Retire Active SA office.
