Arnold's Swim Centre is a renowned swimming school located in Hamilton South, Newcastle. With over 50 years of experience, they have been providing top-quality swimming lessons since 1967. The centre is accredited by Swim Australia and boasts a variety of facilities to cater to swimmers of all ages and abilities.
The main attraction of Arnold's Swim Centre is their big pool, which spans 25 metres and is designed for lap swimming. This pool is perfect for those looking to improve their swimming technique or train for competitive swimming. Additionally, they have a small teaching pool for beginners and young children.
The philosophy at Arnold's Swim Centre is centred around children learning to swim using their own body weight, rather than relying on flotation devices. They believe that basic survival skills are crucial in learning to swim effectively. Their experienced instructors focus on teaching these skills in a safe and nurturing environment.
Maintaining a clean and hygienic swimming environment is of utmost importance at Arnold's Swim Centre. They have implemented a “Clean Pool Policy” to ensure the highest hygiene standards. By using a combination of quality minerals and cleaning agents, they strive to create a pleasant swimming experience with reduced skin irritation.
As proponents of environmental sustainability, Arnold's Swim Centre incorporates eco-friendly practises into their operations. They utilise solar heating whenever possible to reduce their reliance on city resources. The centre is also designed to maximise natural lighting through the use of skylight panels.
Arnold's Swim Centre is also the proud home of the Hunter Swim Club, a local swimming club that provides competitive opportunities for swimmers. Whether you are just starting out or aiming to become a national representative, they have programmes to suit every swimming level.
Their swimming lessons cater to a wide range of age groups, starting from infants as young as 6 months old. Water awareness lessons are offered to infants from 4 to 6 months old, introducing them to basic aquatic survival skills and water familiarisation. For toddlers aged 6 months to 2 years, there are baby swimming lessons where they learn basic aquatic survival skills such as dog paddle and back floating.
Kindy swimming lessons are available for 2-year-olds, focusing on aquatic survival skills like back kicking and floating. Older beginners aged 3 and up can participate in beginner swimming lessons, where they learn back floating, kicking, and freestyle techniques. The big pool beginner lessons are graded according to swimming ability and emphasise freestyle and backstroke techniques.
For more advanced swimmers, there are shrimp lessons that refine kicking and teach freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke techniques. These lessons take place in the 25-metre lap pool.
Arnold's Swim Centre is committed to providing quality swimming lessons in a safe and caring environment. They continuously strive to create a positive and enjoyable experience for both swimmers and their families.
