Pilates studio and fitness centre ARK Pilates & Fitness, located in Torquay, provides a welcoming and inclusive space for individuals of all fitness levels. Founded by Ali and Rob Kingdon, the studio aims to empower individuals to make positive lifestyle changes through the practise of Pilates.
Recognising that many people struggle to maintain their fitness resolutions, ARK Pilates & Fitness emphasises the importance of setting realistic and sustainable goals. Instead of overwhelming routines or high-intensity workouts, the studio encourages individuals to incorporate small, manageable changes into their lives.
At ARK Pilates & Fitness, clients can enjoy community classes that promote gentle exercise, social interaction, and relaxation. Many clients have been with the studio for years, evidencing the effectiveness and enjoyment of these classes.
The studio's main classes are held at two locations. The Paignton classes take place every Thursday at 1830 in the Dance Studio of Paignton Community and Sports Academy. The Torquay classes are held every Tuesday at 1830 at Torbay Olympic Gymnastics Club. Both spaces offer ample room and ventilation for a comfortable and safe exercise experience.
The classes, led by Ali and Rob, are based on the eight principles that form the foundation of Pilates practise. These principles include concentration, relaxation, alignment, breathing, centring, coordination, flowing movements, and stamina. By incorporating these principles into their teaching style, Ali and Rob make each class a holistic and beneficial experience.
The hour-long classes are priced at 6 per session, with no contracts required. Clients can conveniently use contactless payment methods, and it is recommended to bring a mat if available. To stay updated on class details, clients are encouraged to check their emails and the studio's Facebook page regularly.
Ali and Rob Kingdon, the co-founders of ARK Pilates & Fitness, are passionate about promoting the value of Pilates in achieving physical and mental wellbeing. They obtained their YMCA level three mat-based Pilates Instructor qualifications from Elite Pilates Teacher Training in July 2018.
Rob's personal journey with Pilates began in 2017 when his wife, Ali, introduced him to the practise. As a former athlete with lower back problems and sciatica, Rob found that Pilates not only alleviated his physical pain but also improved his mental health and reduced stress levels. After retiring from his position as a detective for Devon and Cornwall Police, Rob now works in safeguarding for the Catholic Church and for Basketball England.
ARK Pilates & Fitness invites individuals in Torquay and Paignton to experience the physical and mental benefits of Pilates in a supportive and inclusive environment. Whether new to Pilates or experienced in the practise, clients can expect professional instruction and a warm community atmosphere at ARK Pilates & Fitness.
