Welcome to Archery GB: Plumpton Bowmen, a small, and friendly archery club located on the King George V playing fields in Plumpton Green, East Sussex. We extend a warm welcome to archers of all levels of achievement and embrace different styles of archery including Compound, Recurve, and Long Bow. With 5 qualified coaches on hand, we are dedicated to assisting your development in the sport.
We are incredibly fortunate to have the King George V Playing Fields as our venue, providing a beautiful and suitable location for archers with disabilities. As a club, we are passionate about encouraging newcomers to the sport and offer two beginner courses each year, one in the Spring and one in the Autumn. Additionally, we hold popular Have-a-Go days throughout the summer, providing an excellent opportunity for beginners to try their hand at archery under the guidance of experienced coaches. Our membership covers a wide age range, and we take pride in having several family groups within our club. While we do take our archery seriously, we strongly believe that it should also be enjoyable. That's why we have a full programme during summer, including an instinctive shoot (based on field archery), a fun shoot, a handicap shoot, and the Club championship. We are proud members of the Sussex Albion League, a friendly competition among various archery clubs in Sussex.
During winter, we participate in the Frostbite and Portsmouth Leagues.
If you're interested in giving archery a try, we invite you to join our Have-a-Go days. These sessions do not require prior booking, simply come along and join us. The cost is 10 for adults and 5 for children per session. We welcome children of all ages, but please contact us beforehand if the participant is under 8 years old.
Our outdoor season runs from April to September, with shoots taking place on Sunday mornings, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Please note that all outdoor shoots are weather permitting. Throughout the summer months, we organise monthly all-day shoots followed by a post-shoot BBQ, providing a great opportunity for socialising and enjoying the sport.
In winter, from October to March, our indoor shoots take place on Wednesday evenings and the first Sunday morning of each month at Plumpton College. This ensures that archery can be enjoyed even during colder weather conditions.
