Aquatots is a swimming school located in South Croydon, offering a comprehensive and progressive swim programme for babies, toddlers, and primary school children. With 29 levels of classes available, starting from Level 1 for babies as young as 10 weeks old, Aquatots aims to not only teach children how to swim but also develop water confidence, water safety skills, and even advanced skills like snorkelling and rescue techniques.
The Aquatots programme has been carefully developed and adapted over the course of 25 years to become the best baby, toddler, and child swimming programme available. The school prioritises a suitable and warm environment for swimming, ensuring that baby classes take place in warm, shallow private pools to create a relaxed atmosphere for new parents and swimmers. As children progress and become more independent in the water, Aquatots moves them to bigger pools to provide the necessary space for further skill development.
Unlike many other swim clubs, Aquatots encourages parents to join their children in the water throughout the programme, even in the later swim levels. This not only makes swimming a shared family event but also enhances and speeds up the learning process. By having a parent in the water, each child has a personal assistant at all times, ensuring that learning continues outside of lessons and preventing children from becoming bored or losing enthusiasm while waiting for a teacher to swim with them individually.
The founder of Aquatots, Evy Bentzon-Jones, started the school in 1997 with just 20 swimmers in two pools. Within a year, the school expanded to five pools and 104 babies swimming with them. Recognising Evy's passion, enthusiasm, and teaching ability, Aquatots continued to grow and introduced the first three levels by the turn of the millennium.
With multiple venues and weekday or weekend classes to choose from, Aquatots offers flexibility to accommodate different schedules.
