Australian Spotted Pony Standard General Appearance: The Australian Spotted Pony is a small, athletic, and compact pony with a refined head and expressive eyes. The neck is set well, the shoulder is sloping, and the withers are prominent. The body is deep, with a short, strong back, and a well-muscled hindquarter. The legs are straight, with strong bones and correctly angled joints.
The hooves are hard, round, and well-shaped. The mane and tail are abundant and silky, and the coat is characterised by large, clearly defined spots of contrasting colours on a white or cream background. The overall appearance should be balanced and eye-catching.
Height and Weight: The height of the Australian Spotted Pony can range from 9hh to 14hh. The weight typically ranges from 150 kg to 350 kg, depending on the height.
Registration and Categories: Australian Spotted Ponies are registered in three categories: Section A, Section B, and Section C. Section A ponies have at least 75% Australian Spotted Pony breeding and exhibit the characteristic spotted coat patterns. Section B ponies have at least 50% Australian Spotted Pony breeding, but may have a solid coat colour. Section C ponies have less than 50% Australian Spotted Pony breeding but may exhibit the spotted coat pattern.
Ponies in all three sections are eligible for breeding and showing.
