About

Angryfish Training is a versatile and dynamic arts organisation founded and run by Robin Surgeoner, also known as Angryfish. With a rich background in music, poetry, and theatre, Angryfish has been actively involved in the arts scene since the 1980s.

As a musician, Angryfish has performed as a guitar-playing singer-songwriter in both disability arts and mainstream settings. He gained recognition as the guitarist for Dan Dares Dog from 1988 to 1992. Angryfish has also written several short plays, including the critically acclaimed “Truth Heals,” which received commendation at the Birmingham Theatre Arts Festival.

In addition to his performance work, Angryfish is a dedicated trainer and consultant. He holds an HNC in professional music practise, which enables him to operate his own small studio and portable recording equipment. Drawing on his expertise, Angryfish runs creative writing for empowerment and recording workshops, offering participants a unique opportunity to explore their creative potential.

Angryfish has been an activist for many years, advocating for the rights of marginalised individuals. His commitment to equality and diversity informs all of his work. He firmly believes that everyone deserves an equitable existence and uses his performances and workshops to spread this important message.

Beyond his arts career, Angryfish has an impressive sporting background. He was a full-time athlete, representing Great Britain as a swimmer in three Paralympic Games. Even today, he continues to compete at a national level and mentors junior competitive swimmers.

Angryfish Training offers a range of bespoke training programmes, tailored to different audiences and age groups. Through his training, Angryfish aims to empower individuals by combining creative expression with personal development. Courses such as Empowerment Through Song and Creative Writing provide participants with the tools and confidence to express themselves authentically.

To further enhance the training experience, Angryfish utilises his mobile digital recording studio to help participants produce compilation works, fostering collaboration and fostering a sense of achievement.
