Warm and welcoming atmosphere for members and visitors alike. Located in the stunning McLaren Vale wine region, our club is just 45 kilometres from the heart of Adelaide. The scenic Aldinga Aerodrome serves as our base, offering picturesque views and a convenient location for flying enthusiasts.
At Aldinga Aero Club, we strive to create a sense of camaraderie and community among aviation enthusiasts. We host regular flying competitions, providing opportunities for members to showcase their skills and improve their piloting abilities. These competitions usually begin around 10:00 a. m.
, with pilots receiving a briefing on the day's rules and requirements. Following the flying activities, we gather for a friendly and informal BYO barbecue lunch at approximately midday.
While official entry into the competitions is reserved for club members, we often have seats available for non-pilots who are interested in observing the flights and experiencing the excitement of our events. We encourage everyone with an interest in aviation to visit our club on any day when we have an event or activity scheduled. In addition to flying competitions, we organise two weekend fly-aways each year. These trips allow members to explore and enjoy the diverse regional areas of South Australia, Victoria, and New South Wales. It's a fantastic opportunity to bond with fellow aviation enthusiasts while discovering interesting towns and places of interest.
Driven by a spirit of giving back, Aldinga Aero Club also holds an annual charity day. During this event, our members offer free local flights to children from local charities, along with their families or carers. We provide a complimentary barbecue lunch, soft drinks, and ice creams for the children, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable day for all.
To foster friendships and foster a strong sense of community, we host several non-aviation social events throughout the year. These include movie nights and visits to places of interest in the Adelaide area. It's an opportunity to connect with fellow members beyond the world of aviation and create lasting memories.
