About
Aldenham Cricket Club, based in Watford, has been a cornerstone of the community for 50 years. Peter Munroe invites all cricket enthusiasts to join in, be they former, current, or aspiring players, along with their families. With a focus on both competitive and friendly cricket, the club preserves the cherished traditions of the game.
The club competes in Division 7B, having clinched promotion after a strong season. Sundays are reserved for friendly 40 over games, with occasional traditional timed matches adding to the mix. They also participate in the Herts Village Trophy T20, where they've recently tasted victory.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary, marked by a memorable day with past players, the club enjoyed cricket, great food, and speeches. Thanks to generous donations and a £5,000 Sport England Grant, improvements like a new roller shed and an electronic scoreboard were made. Peter Munroe handled event organisation, while Chris Munroe took care of catering, adding to the day's success with long-time friends New Calypsonians CC.
Open to new teams and valuing friendly competition, the club thrives on community spirit. In 2022, 16 new members joined the Aldenham Social Club, boosting its numbers to 45. Chris Munroe leads the Saturday team, while Itty Haque replaces Basil Letts as Sunday skipper, with plans for vice-captains to support in his absence and develop new leaders.
Aldenham Cricket Club offers a welcoming environment for all, whether you're an experienced player or new to cricket. Join and be part of Watford's close-knit cricketing community.
