The Alberta KDS – Karate-do Shotokai Club in Barnwell is a dedicated martial arts club that follows the teachings of Master Mitsusuke Harada. Founded in 1965, the KDS focuses on the true essence of Karate-do, without the influence of political wranglings from other martial arts groups.
Karate is a form of self-defence that emphasizes using your body's movements rather than weapons. Training in Karate improves fitness, flexibility, concentration, and dexterity. Master Harada, awarded a 5th Dan by the founder of modern Karate-do, Gichin Funakoshi, maintains a commitment to the practice and teachings of Karate at its core.
The Alberta KDS club is open to anyone with a genuine interest in learning Karate-do. The organization is non-profit, with all funds being reinvested for the betterment of its members.
