Aikido Seishin Kai Stoke is a traditional martial arts school that specialises in the practise of Aikido. Aikido is a martial art that focuses on using throws and locks as a means of self-defence. The movements and principles of Aikido are derived from the Samurai tradition, and the practise also incorporates the use of weapons such as a wooden sword (bokken) and wooden staff (Jyo).
Aikido Seishin Kai Stoke welcomes individuals of all ages and sizes. Aikido is a practise that transcends distinctions between the young and old, large and small, and men and women. The school offers classes at multiple locations throughout Stoke. On Tuesdays, classes are held at Fenton Manor Sports Complex, Arena D. Juniors (over 12 years old) and adults are welcome to attend the Aikido class from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. The class is led by instructors Chris Norburn and Mark Simon.
The cost per person is 7.
On Wednesdays, classes take place at Saint Andrews Church Hall on Lawson Terrace, Porthill. The Aikido class is open to juniors (over 12 years old) and adults. The class runs from 7:30pm to 9:15pm and is led by instructors Chris Norburn and Russ Elliott. The cost per person is 7.
On Thursdays at Saint Andrews Church Hall, there are two classes available. From 6:00pm to 7:00pm, there is an Iaido class open to adults only. Following the Iaido class, there is an Aikido class from 7:30pm to 9:15pm, which is also open to adults only. New members have the opportunity to pay 20 for unlimited Aikido lessons for one month at any location.
The Aikido class is led by instructors Chris Norburn and Dean Willetts, and the Iaido class is led by Dean Willetts. The cost per person is 7.
In addition to regular classes, Aikido Seishin Kai Stoke also offers grading opportunities for students to advance in their martial arts journey. The school places great importance on child protection and provides a safe and supportive environment for all students.
