Aikido of Winnipeg Martial Arts Dojo, located at 88A Sherbrook St in the heart of the city, has been a staple in the martial arts community since its establishment in 1992. Led by chief instructor Doug Reichert Sensei, a 5th Dan black belt, and assisted by his wife Leanne Reichert Sensei, a 4th Dan black belt, the dojo embodies the spirit of Aikido. The dojo's philosophy is encapsulated by the words of OSensei: “Masakatsu Agatsu Katsu Hayabi”, meaning “True victory is self victory at the speed of light”.
Classes at Aikido of Winnipeg Martial Arts Dojo run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in the evening, as well as on Saturday mornings. The dojo is currently open to a limited number of new students, who are encouraged to contact the dojo to arrange a free trial class. In addition to in-person training, the dojo offers an online store where students can purchase uniforms, weapons, and other martial arts essentials.
As a not-for-profit organization, Aikido of Winnipeg Martial Arts is dedicated to guiding students on a journey towards mastery in the art of Aikido. Beginners are welcomed with care and respect, as they immerse themselves in the dojo's creative and challenging atmosphere. Loose clothing is recommended for those attending the free introductory class, and the dojo's schedule can be checked for upcoming training sessions.
In recognition of his dedication and skill, Doug Reichert Sensei received his 5th Dan certificate in January 2019 from Hendricks Sensei, signed by The Doshu in Aikikai Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. This achievement reflects the high standard of training and expertise offered at Aikido of Winnipeg Martial Arts Dojo. Join the dojo and train like a samurai, as you hone your mind, body, and spirit through the practice of Aikido.
