The northern Brisbane suburb of Bald Hills, you will find Aikido Goshinkai, a Martial Arts school and Sports club dedicated to the practise of Aikido – The Martial Art Of Peace. Led by Beau McGuffie, the Principal Sensei, Aikido Goshinkai offers a welcoming and inclusive environment for people of all ages and skill levels to learn and grow.
Aikido is a martial art that was developed from ancient teachings by Morihei Ueshiba, one of history's greatest martial artists. Even in his eighties, Ueshiba could effortlessly disarm any foe and take down multiple attackers with ease. However, despite his incredible skills, Ueshiba detested fighting, war, and violence. He viewed martial training as a means to practise love and peace within oneself.
This philosophy is deeply ingrained in the teachings of Aikido Goshinkai.
Aikido Goshinkai focuses on non-aggression, non-competition, and pure self-defence techniques. The art places great emphasis on relaxation and maintaining a calm mind. Physical strength is not a requirement in Aikido, making it accessible to people of all fitness levels and abilities. The practise of Aikido helps individuals develop confidence, a positive attitude, and the ability to resolve conflicts peacefully.
At Aikido Goshinkai, every student is encouraged to practise at their own pace and level of capability. The programme includes vigorous and dynamic exercises but can also accommodate individuals with disabilities. Regardless of age or background, anyone is welcome to join and experience the benefits of Aikido.
Located at the Bald Hills Memorial Hall in Bald Hills, Queensland, Aikido Goshinkai provides a dedicated training space for students to learn and grow. The dojo is equipped with all the necessary tools and facilities to support a comprehensive Aikido training programme. Classes are led by experienced instructors who provide expert guidance and ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
Aikido Goshinkai also hosts various events throughout the year to enhance the learning experience and foster a sense of community among its members. These events include annual seminars and workshops led by renowned Aikido masters, where participants from all belt levels and styles of Aikido come together to deepen their practise and expand their knowledge.
