Welcome to AFB Dance Academy, a small, and friendly ballet school located near the town of Market Harborough in New Zealand. Our dance academy specialises in teaching the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus, which is recognised worldwide for its high-quality dance education. The RAD sets exceptionally high standards for both teachers and students, ensuring that you can trust the standard of teaching and learning in our classes.
Recently, we have moved into our own premises on Melton Road, just off the A6 roundabout. Our location is convenient, easily accessible, and situated on the site of the Langton Greenhouse and Garden Centre. As a small dance school, we have the luxury of time to support your child individually during classes, providing them with a nurturing and supportive environment to thrive in.
In addition to ballet, we also offer tap classes. These classes have a more relaxed feel and focus on developing children's musicality and rhythm, which in turn supports their progress in other dance styles. Children can begin their ballet journey with us from the age of 2 1/2 in our Nursery classes. Once they reach the age of 4-5 and start school, they are invited to move onto the Graded syllabus and can begin taking exams from the age of 6.
At AFB Dance Academy, we pride ourselves on offering students the opportunity to be entered into a wide range of ballet exams and assessments with the RAD. Throughout the exam and assessment process, we provide extensive support to motivate and inspire students to achieve their best. We believe in rewarding students of all ages and abilities, acknowledging that exams are not a compulsory element of learning. If students choose, they can progress through the Grades without taking exams, allowing them to remain in classes with their peers.
Over the years, we have had numerous successful assessment days and enrolments for our classes. Our students have consistently shown great dedication and effort, which is reflected in their amazing results. We celebrate their achievements and are proud to be a part of their dance journey.
Looking ahead to January 2024, we are excited to announce that enrolments are open for the new year.
