Welcome to Murwillumbah Aero Club (MAC), a sports club located at Bob Whittle Airfield in Murwillumbah, NSW. Our club is home to approximately 50 passionate aviators of all levels who come together to share their love for flying.
Our 2-storey clubhouse serves as a central hub for our members, providing a space for socialising and organising club activities. The clubhouse also houses our Cessna 172M, which is available for the shared use and care of our members. Booking instructions for the aircraft can be found in the Members Area on our website.
At MAC, we hold a monthly “Club Day” on the first Sunday of each month, where all aviation enthusiasts are welcome to join us. On Club Day, we spend the day flying and exploring the skies, followed by a traditional Australian BBQ and a Cuppa to unwind and exchange stories.
MAC has a rich history dating back to 1946 when it was founded by aviators, including Bob Whittle, who the airfield is now named after. We are proud to carry on their legacy and continue to foster a supportive and inclusive aviation community.
Our airfield, Murwillumbah Airfield (YMUR), is a grass-on-shale airfield with a runway length of approximately 800m, aligned North/South (36/18). This picturesque airfield operates in “Class G” airspace and is utilised for a variety of general aviation operations, including agricultural activities. It is important to note that the airfield operates in proximity to the Gold Coast Airport.
Managed by the Tweed Council, YMUR offers detailed pilot notes and information on the Tweed Council website. Fuel is also available at the airfield, and arrangements can be made by contacting us directly.
