Founded in 2013 by Sifu Tony Psaila, Sifu Damian Rainer, and Instructor Heath Gibbons, the Adelaide Wing Chun Academy was established to continue the legacy of Wing Chun Kung Fu in Adelaide. The academy follows the teachings of Chu Shong Tin and Jim Fung, and the instructors regularly travel to Hong Kong to train with Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin and the greater Wing Chun family. As members of the Australian Wing Chun Federation, the academy maintains its ties to Grandmaster Jim Fung's original school.
The academy offers a range of training options, including once-per-week classes and unlimited training options. The fees for classes are reasonable and include an annual membership and insurance fee. The academy also offers a voucher system for lessons, making it flexible for students to attend classes at their convenience. The classes are held at St Luke's Hall on Whitmore Square in Adelaide.
In addition to the adult classes, the academy also offers specific classes for children aged 5 to 12 years called “Dragons Club. ” These classes aim to teach children the basics of self-defence, improve their concentration and physical coordination, and instil qualities such as self-discipline and self-respect.
