Welcome to Acomb Hockey Club, the oldest hockey club in York! Located in Acomb, York, we are a friendly and local club that prides itself on community, sociability, and affordability. Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting out, we welcome all levels of experience.
Acomb Hockey Club consists of a ladies' team and two men's teams, all of which compete in the North East & Yorkshire Hockey leagues. Additionally, we enter a Mixed team in summer competitions.
Our ladies' team had a successful 2022/23 season, finishing third in YNE Division 1 Moor & Dale. Under the new captaincy of Meg Williams and vice-captain Sam Storr, they hope to continue their winning form in the upcoming 23/24 season.
The men's first team successfully fought off relegation from Yorkshire Division 3 in the 2022/23 season. Led by captain John Forecast and vice-captain Sam Ellis, they will be competing in that league for the 2023/24 season. The men's second team finished mid-table in YNE Division 1 Moor for the previous season and will embark on the 23/24 season with Kieran Brown and Tom Severn as the new captaincy team.
For those who can't wait until September, we also enter a summer league mixed team to local competitions.
Training sessions usually take place on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Energise Sports Centre. This is also where we play our fixtures. Acomb Hockey Club was formed in 1968 through the merger of Phoenix Hockey Club and York Spartans Hockey Club, formerly known as York Corporation Hockey Club. We are a section of the Acomb Sports Club, sharing a home ground and clubhouse with Acomb Cricket Club.
Our clubhouse, located at Acomb Sports Club (The Cricket Pavilion) on The Green, Acomb, York, YO26 5FG, is the perfect spot for post-match hospitality and club socials. A recent refurbishment in 2023 has made it an even better place for post-match pints and refreshments.

Our home matches are played at the Energise Leisure Centre, situated on Cornlands Road, Acomb, York, YO34 3DX. The pitch was relaid in 2019, providing an excellent and fast playing surface.
