The Academy of Shaolin Kung Fu, located in Poole and Bournemouth, is a martial arts club that offers comprehensive training in various Chinese martial arts styles. Within the academy, the animal styles of the traditional Chinese Shaolin system play a significant role. Each animal style represents different characteristics and techniques. Emulating the crane, students learn to use their hands in a specific formation, called the “crane's beak,” to deliver strong strikes.

The crane style also aims to develop tendons, ligaments, and jing, which is refined chi or libido, associated with the crane's symbol of longevity.
