She began her career as a prima ballerina at the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Armenia (USSR) before immigrating to Canada to join Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. For seven years, Mme. Vartanian graced the stage as a principal dancer with Les Grands Ballets, bringing artistic prestige to the company and captivating audiences both in Canada and internationally.
Throughout her career, Mme. Vartanian has toured extensively, performing in North and South America, Europe, the Soviet Union, and the Orient. Her experience as a prima ballerina at the Cleveland Ballet, Les Ballets Classiques de Montreal, and as a featured artist with companies such as the Alberta Ballet, Nevada Dance Theatre, Ballet Nacional de Portugal, Tbilisi Georgian Ballet, and Donetsk Ukrainian Ballet, has enriched her expertise in ballet and choreography.
The Acadmie de Ballet Sona Vartanian is a non-profit organization dedicated to the comprehensive development of classical ballet education.
