The Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts (ACPA) is a renowned training centre located in Fortitude Valley, Queensland. With a strong dedication to cultivating the country's next great artists, ACPA offers a range of performing arts courses in the genres of stage and screen, music, and dance. As a testament to the quality of our education, 90% of our graduates have secured employment or progressed to further education in the performing arts industry.
At ACPA, we welcome and embrace First Nations and all nations people to study with us. Our centre plays a vital role in advocating for recognition and respect for Indigenous culture as part of the Australian Government's Closing the Gap initiative. We believe that Indigenous stories and values are integral to the performing arts landscape, and we strive to train all our students to express their individual culture on stage, infused with a contemporary flair.
As an ACPA student, you will have the opportunity to explore various areas of performance arts, including contemporary dance, contemporary music, and contemporary acting. Our courses are at the heart of our artistic programmes, allowing you to tap into your potential and develop your skills in line with your passion. Through performances, you will bring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories to life on stage, creating a powerful connexion between traditional heritage and modern expression.
One of the unique aspects of studying at ACPA is the opportunity to learn from master artists. In our challenging yet nurturing environment, established professionals will mentor you, sharpen your technical capabilities, and encourage you to diversify your creative expression. As a Registered Training Organisation approved by the Australian Skills Quality Authority, we ensure that your skills and confidence are developed to a professional standard for public performances. Joining the ranks of esteemed ACPA alumni, you will be well-prepared for a successful career in the performing arts industry.
We are incredibly proud of all our alumni who are currently working professionally in the industry. They continue to inspire the new generation of ACPA students and performers. Some notable alumni include Kaylah Tyson, who performed as part of Poetic Murriz and Impossible Odds, Danzel Baker (Baker Boy), who performed at Bigsound and Groovin' the Moo Festival, and Jeremy Ambrum, who has appeared in television shows such as Secret Daughter and Cleverman.
At ACPA, we believe in making dreams come true.
