Abolio Oxford Capoeira, based in Chipping Norton, has a rich history dating back to 1999 when it was founded by Luis Nego. Hailing from Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, Nego began his capoeira journey on the streets of Bahia, later earning his Professor grading from Mestre Salrio Mnimo.
Over the years, Abolio Oxford has trained many students who have become Professores and Formados. Some have even set up their own capoeira groups in London and Taunton. Nego’s influence also extends to his home city of Salvador, where he ran a project supporting underprivileged children by offering free capoeira classes and educational assistance.
Nowadays, Abolio Oxford Capoeira, led by Formado Loiro, offers regular classes, courses, workshops, and performances for all ages and skill levels. With years of experience, the instructors are passionate about sharing their knowledge of capoeira.
There are specialised classes for children aged 4 and above, run by a dedicated team under the supervision of Luis Nego. These classes provide a safe and inclusive space for kids to learn and enjoy capoeira.
Abolio Oxford has also spread its wings to Taunton and London, with Nego continuing his teaching and mentorship there. Not to mention, the club has a presence in South Africa through a non-profit community group.
