University Rowing Aberdeen (URA) is a partnership between Aberdeen University Boat Club, established in 1870, and Robert Gordon University Boat Club, established in 1992. This partnership was formed in 2012 with the aim of sharing resources, equipment, coaching, and funding to strengthen both clubs and create a unified rowing club. Since then, URA has grown steadily and has become a professional programme with a dedicated coaching team.

The Butchart Performance Ergo Room, located on the University of Aberdeen campus, is the training facility for URA. It provides 20 well-maintained ergs, two Watt Bikes, and spin bikes, allowing all squads to train in a world-class specific rowing land-based facility. This facility is conveniently located near student accommodations and accessible by public transport.

The Aberdeen University Boathouse, originally built in the early 1900s, is situated on the banks of the River Dee, adjacent to the Robert Gordon University Boathouse. It houses all of URA's big boats, along with changing facilities for male and female athletes and a boat repair workshop. The Robert Gordon University Boathouse, built in the 1960s, is where URA's small boats and equipment are stored. It also provides changing facilities, an athlete stretching area, and a crew room.

RGU:Sport, located on the Robert Gordon University campus, is a state-of-the-art facility that offers a swimming pool for capsize drills and swim tests, as well as a gym hall for all-club circuits. The strength and conditioning room is utilised by RGU Sport Scholars and is overseen by professional coaching staff.

URA has three main squads: the Senior Squad, which competes at prestigious events such as Henley Royal Regatta and Henley Women's Regatta; the Intermediate Squad, for student athletes looking to develop their skills and compete locally; and the Beginner Squad, which welcomes newcomers and provides an opportunity to learn the sport and join a supportive community.
