

Tae Kwon Do.
Originally starting Karate in Sydney under Sensei Philip Kear, 8th Dan and Sensei Robert Kear, 7th Dan of San no Ya Wado International Karate he travelled to Japan in 1989 and trained at the University of Japan Karate Club (Nichidai), the pre-eminent Japanese University Karate Club for 18 months.
While training in Japan in 1991, he was awarded his 1st Dan in Wado Ryu by the late Hironori Ohtsuka II, 10th Dan.
Mark trained in England with the late Tatsuo Suzuki, 8th Dan Hanshi and Sensei John Wicks, 8th Dan of the WIKF from 1993 - 1997. He was graded 3rd Dan by Suzuki Sensei.
He competed in local Tokyo tournaments, was Captain of the Australian Team at the 1st WIKF World Championships in Greece in 1993 and won the Men's Team Kumite at the 1995 UK WIKF Championships.
Mark was graded 4th Dan in 2001 by Sensei Philip Kear and operated his own Dojo in Brisbane from 2004 - 2014.
Sensei Philip Kear and recognises his position as the senior student of San no Ya Wado. 'Yahazu' means the 'nock of an arrow' and reflects how the nock launches the arrow towards it's target.
San no Ya means 'three arrows.
