Woodlands Lakeside Junior Golf Club is Australia's first junior golf club, located in Tweed Heads on the Southern Gold Coast. The club is proud to have the support of the Jack Newton Foundation, the Professional Golf Association (PGA), and the Australian Ladies Professional Golf Association (ALPGA), making it a reputable and trusted establishment for young golfers between the ages of 6 and 17.
The clubhouse, known as the “Olde Queenslander,” boasts a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Inside, young golfers will find Nintendo games, a pool table, and Austar TV, providing entertainment and relaxation off the course. The club also offers additional amenities for its junior members, including a full-size tennis court and a practise putting green. Refreshments are available every day, ensuring that young golfers have access to nourishment while enjoying their time at the club.
Woodlands Lakeside Junior Golf Club's mission is to create a safe and caring environment where young juniors can practise and train, all while fostering social education and promoting an understanding of golf etiquette and sportsmanship. The club offers various programmes and activities for its members, including weekend club competitions, mixed junior competitions, and family fun days.
To ensure the safety and integrity of the game, there is a safe play code in place at the club. All juniors must complete a course that acquaints them with the principles of playing safely. Additionally, juniors are required to adhere to a dress code, which includes wearing proper smart-casual attire such as a 't' shirt and shorts/trousers (jeans are not permitted). Proper footwear, such as trainers or golf shoes, must be worn during golf play, and spikes are not allowed in the clubhouse.
Hats also must be worn at all times. The management's decision regarding safe play is final, and any juniors who do not meet the necessary golfing ethics may be asked to leave the course for the safety of themselves and others.
New members of Woodlands Lakeside Junior Golf Club are required to enrol in a start-up pack, which includes six lessons on swing, golf rules, and golf education. This pack also includes membership to the Jack Newton Foundation, an official club handicap, and insurance coverage for the child. The cost of the start-up pack is $195.
Membership to Woodlands Lakeside Junior Golf Club is free for the first six months to all juniors who wish to join. After the initial six months, a contribution of $125 per six months will be requested for membership. Within a year, the club anticipates the support of a sponsor, which will allow them to cap the membership fee at $220 for the entire year, equivalent to just $4. 20 per week.
The membership fee can be paid in three instalments to assist families with multiple children.
Woodlands Lakeside Junior Golf Club aims to provide young golfers with an exceptional golfing experience while instilling in them a love for the game, respect for its traditions, and valuable life skills. The club warmly welcomes all junior golfers in the Tweed Heads area to join and be a part of Australia's first junior golf club.
