The Wollongong Mustangs Gridiron Club has two teams that take part in the Gridiron NSW league:
The Mustangs senior team (over 18's) competes in the 11 man, full contact, division one against eleven other teams spread across the greater Sydney area but also include teams from Newcastle, Central Coast down to Wollongong . The seniors season runs from the first week in September through to early December and culminates in the Waratah Bowl.
Mustangs preseason training starts around early June and takes place at Cyril Saunders Oval near Wollongong TAFE on Monday and Wednesday nights from 7-9PM.
The Mustangs junior team (16 to 19's) competes in the 9 man, full contact, Colts division against seven other teams from the same areas as the seniors. The Colts season runs alongside the seniors from early September to early December.
Mustangs Juniors preseason training starts around early June at Cyril Saunders Oval near Wollongong TAFE on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6-8PM.
The club aims to provide helmets, shoulder and body pads for players who don't have their own. For the start of preseason training, all that is required is yourself and a pair of boots.
