Windsurfing Victoria (WV) is a well-established sports club based in Melbourne, Australia. Since its establishment in 1985, WV has been dedicated to representing and promoting the windsurfing community in Victoria. As a member of the Australian Windsurfing Association, WV serves as the public voice for windsurfers in the state, advocating for the protection of access to windsurfing spots.
Membership in Windsurfing Victoria provides numerous benefits to windsurfing enthusiasts. Members have access to third party event and public liability insurance through the Australian Windsurfing Association's sports insurance policy, ensuring their safety and security while participating in windsurfing activities. WV also offers various competition events, including course racing, wave riding, freestyle, slalom, speed races, and marathons. Members can also take advantage of the WV Teach-a-Mate programme, which provides beginner windsurfing equipment for those who are new to the sport.
In addition, WV organises activity days, windsurfing clinics, and social nights to foster networking and camaraderie among members. Members receive regular updates on windsurfing news and events through the WV website, Facebook page, and E-News bulletins. By becoming a member of WV, individuals can actively contribute to the protection and expansion of windsurfing in Victoria.
WV recently hosted its annual general meeting, during which various topics were discussed. One of the highlights was WV's decision to provide support services to the Parkdale Yacht Club (PYC), a long-standing partner of windsurfing. WV will be covering and supporting PYC's calendar events for the current season, including the Windsurfing One Design State and National titles. More details about these events will be released in due course.
WV has also welcomed Paul Grimshaw to its committee for the 2017-2018 season, joining President Stephen Coward, Vice President Cologne Daylight-Baker, Treasurer/Secretary Andrew Niere, Web Administrator Aldo Caprioli, and Generals Stephen Moutafis and Paul Grimshaw.
For windsurfing enthusiasts who want to share their experiences and connect with other windsurfers, WV has reintroduced the “Where Are You Windsurfing? ” concept through a dedicated Facebook page. By joining this group, windsurfers can inform others about their upcoming windsurfing plans and connect with fellow windsurfing enthusiasts. The group can be found at https://www.
