The West Wyalong Rugby League Football Club Inc, affectionately known as the "Mallee Men”, have as their home ground Ron Crowe Oval, named after great club stalwart and Australia, NSW and Country rep Ron Crowe. Ron also had a season with South Sydney in the 1960s.
The game of Rugby League was first played in West Wyalong in 1911, leading to a century of the game locally in the year 2011. Please see our History section for more information.
We play in the Group 20 competition and field 4 teams, Under 16, Under 18, Reserves and Firsts. We also field a Ladies Leaguetag team in the Group competition.
Our club conducts a pre-season knockout series on the last weekend of February each year. The series commenced in 1970, had two years off in 1971,1972, and recommenced in 1973 and has been going strong ever since. It is now only conducted over the one weekend and is limited to 16 entries. We target clubs from Groups 8, 9, 10, 11 and 20 to play off for the first prize of $8500 and the runner up prize of $2500.
