Warrnambool Rowing Club is a friendly and inclusive sports club located in the beautiful city of Warrnambool, Victoria. Our boathouse is situated on the Hopkins River, providing a picturesque and serene environment for rowing enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. Rowing is a versatile sport that offers both social and competitive opportunities, making it an ideal way to stay active, meet new people, and develop valuable life skills.
Founded in 1873, we are one of the oldest clubs in Victoria and take great pride in our rich history. We have recently released a history book that provides a fascinating glimpse into our more than 140 years of existence. Interested individuals can preview our history book online or contact us to purchase a hardcopy commemorative edition. We are also part of Rowing Victoria and actively participate in regattas across the state.
Those interested in joining our club can do so by sending an enquiry through our contact page or via Facebook. As a member, you will have the opportunity to learn how to row, gain knowledge about the equipment used, and meet like-minded individuals who share a passion for rowing. Members can also organise rows outside our regular Saturday morning sessions, providing flexibility and additional opportunities to enjoy the sport.
Visiting rowers are also welcome to join us for a row on the Hopkins River, with a small donation to our club being greatly appreciated. We extend a warm invitation to students from Deakin University to become members of our club. In addition to rowing, we regularly engage in social activities such as informal drinks or meals at local establishments, movie nights, and celebrating members' birthdays. Our club also hosts a grand Christmas party each year.
Membership is open to individuals 16 years and older who are able to swim 100 metres. If you have any health concerns, it is advisable to consult with your doctor before joining. Membership fees amount to $190 annually, which covers access to boats and rowing equipment, instruction on proper rowing technique, 24-hour gym access (gym-only membership is available), registration with Rowing Victoria, social events, and participation in rowing regattas (additional costs may apply).
