Welcome to the Waikerie Gliding Club, a renowned sports club located in the District Council of Loxton Waikerie, South Australia. Established in 1937, the club operates from one of the best gliding sites in Australia and is known for its fantastic soaring conditions.
At the Waikerie Gliding Club, members, and visitors can experience the thrill of gliding through Air Experience Flights. These flights not only offer the opportunity to try out gliding, but also provide a scenic ride where individuals can sit back, relax, and enjoy the peace and magnificent panoramic views. However, be warned, these flights have been known to start a lifelong passion for gliding!
The surrounding countryside of the Waikerie Gliding Club offers excellent prospects for long cross country flights, making it a popular choice for staging gliding competitions. The club provides various on-field accommodation options, ensuring a comfortable stay for participants. Additionally, the clubhouse boasts a large comfortable air-conditioned bar and dining area, complete with a fully equipped kitchen for member-prepared meals. Surrounding the clubhouse are extensive irrigated lawn areas, perfect for glider spotting or for sharing tales and a drink at the end of the day.
The Waikerie club fleet consists of several aircraft models, including the ASK-21 WKI, LS-4a XOK, Discus b GHP, and Duo Discuss DDH equipped with an LXNAV S100. On flying days, club members also bring their privately owned aircraft, which include models such as AS33E, Hph304 ‘Shark’, Astir 77, Kestrel 17, ASH31Mi, LS4a Top, ASH25M, Arcus M, DG500M Elan, ASW20 Top, ASW20F, Dimona, Diamant, and JS1 BTJ, and ASW-20 JET. The variety of aircraft ensures a diverse and exciting gliding experience for all members.
