Van Diemen Fencing Club, located in Hobart, is a local sports club dedicated to the art of fencing. The senior coaches at the club are accredited by the Australian Fencing Federation and hold current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and Mental Health First Aid. The club encourages individuals to try out fencing, regardless of their age or experience level. Beginner sessions are regularly conducted, usually aligning with the school terms. Additionally, newcomers are always welcome to join the club at any of their three weekly locations.

They advise fencers to adhere to social distancing guidelines and provide hand sanitisers for masks and hands. Regular cleaning of safety gear is also strongly encouraged. Van Diemen Fencing Club operates at three locations throughout the week. On Mondays, the club meets at 83 Federal St, North Hobart, catering to individuals aged 12 and above from 6 pm to 8 pm. On Tuesdays, the club convenes at Tolosa Street Hall, Glenorchy. Kids aged 7 to 11 have their session from 5 pm to 6 pm, while individuals aged 12 and above can join from 6:10 pm to 8 pm.
Finally, on Saturdays, the club gathers at Tarremah Steiner School hall in Huntingfield. Individuals aged 12 and above can participate from 10 am to 1 pm, and kids aged 7 to 11 have their session from noon to 1 pm.
Coaches at Van Diemen Fencing Club are highly qualified. They are the only fencing club in Tasmania with Australian Fencing Federation accredited coaches. Additionally, all coaches possess the necessary certifications and training to work with vulnerable individuals and provide general coaching principles. Coaches Avery Holderness-Roddam and Karina Halys offer not only group lessons but also individual training, taster sessions, and demonstrations.
They continuously strive to enhance their skills through various coaching and refereeing courses, ensuring the best experience for all members.
