The University of the Sunshine Coast Little Athletics Centre (USCLAC) is a sports club located in Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Established in 2007 by Trevor Dryden and John Dighton, the club has grown to become one of the largest Little Athletics Centres in Queensland. USCLAC is dedicated to the principles of Family, Fun, and Fitness, making it an ideal place for children of all ages to develop their athletic skills.
Little Athletics is often considered the foundation for all sports, as the skills learned in this programme can be applied to a wide variety of sports. With around 95,000 boys and girls participating in Little Athletics each year, USCLAC aims to provide an inclusive and supportive environment for its athletes and their families.
USCLAC is proud to have a group of dedicated volunteers who make up the Leadership Group. These individuals, who are parents and family members themselves, are present every Friday to assist the young athletes in their competitions and ensure they have a fun and enjoyable experience. The Leadership Group holds regular meetings to discuss and plan activities for the club.
The club offers a range of programmes and events to cater to athletes of different ages and abilities. Registration can be done online or in person during sign-on days or competition nights. Athletes are allocated to age groups based on their month and year of birth. USCLAC also offers a Tiny Tots programme for children aged 3 and 4 years, providing them with an introductory experience in athletics.
USCLAC has a strong emphasis on community and is grateful for its supporters. The club has several sponsors who contribute to its operations and success. Additionally, USCLAC has a canteen, coaching staff, and medical and first aid officers to ensure the well-being and convenience of its athletes and their families.
