USC Rugby Union Club

Rugby Union Club, located in the beautiful Sunshine Coast region of Australia. The club is known for its passion for the game and its strong sense of community. USC Rugby offers a range of teams, including three Senior Men's Grades, one Women's team, one Men's Colts team, and 11 junior sides ranging from U14 to U6, all competing in the competitive Sunshine Coast District Rugby Union Competition.

The club has a rich history of success, with six A-grade topships in the men's competition and four in the women's, achieved in its 25-year history. Players are drawn from the local university and across the coast, creating a diverse and talented roster. USC Rugby also has a strong network of business and community support, further enhancing the club's success and growth.

Women's rugby at USC Rugby is thriving, with a competitive six-team competition. The season is divided into two halves, with a 12-a-side competition in the first half and a 7s competition in the second half. This allows players of all skill levels to participate and enjoy the game.

The club is also proud to have an extensive junior programme, with 11 different age groups ranging from Under 17s to Under 6s. USC Rugby places a strong emphasis on being a family-focused club, hosting family nights every Thursday during the season. This provides an opportunity for parents and siblings to come together and enjoy dinner while supporting and cheering on the junior teams.

In addition to regular season play, USC Rugby offers a summer rugby academy focused on skill development, education, and fitness for players aged between U11 to U18. The academy is run by experienced coaches and current senior players and operates from November to March. This programme ensures players stay sharp and engaged during the off-season.

USC Rugby has also produced numerous representative players, with many players representing the Sunshine Coast Stingrays at higher levels of competition. In 2018, the club had a player selected for the Queensland Women's team, showcasing the talent and commitment of USC Rugby players.

The club is dedicated to the development of referees as well and encourages young players to join the Sunshine Coast Refereeing programme. Referees are paid to officiate games for younger age groups, allowing young players to gain valuable experience while earning money.

Founded in 1997, just one year after the opening of the University of the Sunshine Coast, USC Rugby Club has a progressive philosophy. The club believes in unity and works towards creating a cohesive and inclusive environment where all players, regardless of age or skill, are valued and supported. This philosophy is evident both on and off the field, with strong training sessions and a vibrant social calendar that sets USC Rugby apart from other clubs in the district.

The USC Rugby Club is located at the University of the Sunshine Coast's Sippy Downs Campus, conveniently situated just a short 15-minute drive from the stunning beaches of Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, and Kawana. The campus is easily accessible via the Bruce Highway, which is the main route to Brisbane, located just 80 kilometres away. The club also benefits from improved public transport options to both the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane.

To support its growth and development, USC Rugby seeks financial assistance through donations. The club aims to raise $50,000 to improve its facilities and invest in player development. Donations can be made through the Australian Sports Foundation, either as a one-off contribution or recurring donations.
