About
The Tumut Pony Club was first formed around 1956, when a Dr Edwards, from England, who was practising in Tumut convened the first meeting to form a club. Because of the number of children and horses in the District he felt that Tumut Should have a pony club. He was assisted by a Mr Pat Nichollas and Mr Mick Toohey.
No record can be found of these early years until an old minute book which commences with an Annual F=General meeting held on Friday 3rd November 1961. The club has functioned ever since, affiliated first with Zone 12 until that Zone was split in three and then affiliating with Zone 20. The Club has had two grounds since their formation, firstly what is now the Tumut RDA grounds, and now their current location at the Tumut Showground.
