Trinity Hash House Harriers is a sports club based in the beautiful city of Cairns, North Queensland, Australia. The club runs every Tuesday evening at 5:45pm and welcomes visitors to join them. Trinity HHH takes its name from Trinity Bay, the bay on which Cairns is located.
Trinity HHH is a mixed club with a very social atmosphere, placing an emphasis on exercise and fun. The club follows the tradition of Hash House Harriers, which can be found in most major cities worldwide. Participants can expect a rewarding walk or run of 4–7 kilometres around the stunning Cairns region, lasting about an hour.
After the walk or run, there are social drinks and a meal where members can relax and bond. The club prides itself on providing an interesting and enjoyable experience for its participants. Run information is available on the Receding Hareline page or by contacting the Trail Master.
The cost to participate in Trinity HHH is a bargain at just $12, which includes a meal (known as “Nosh”) and several drinks. Cairns' warm to hot weather throughout most of the year adds to the enjoyment of socialising over drinks after the runs. During the wet season from Christmas to Easter, participants can take advantage of the extra light and explore the great “shiggy” (off-pavement running) opportunities.
In addition to the weekly runs on Tuesday evenings, Trinity HHH typically hosts a special celebration run once a year. This event attracts hashers from far and wide who come to experience Hashing “Trinity style. ” The club has also celebrated significant milestones in its history, such as the 1000th Run in 1998 and the EXTRAVAGANZA 2000th Run in 2017.
The Trinity HHH club was established on February 23, 1980, with the help of Peter “Mazdabator” Coxen, Graham “Wizard of Idstein” Idstein, Reyn “Silver Fox” Robinson, David “Desert Head” Murray, and others. Although no Inaugural runners are still active, Jughead, a Trinity Hash legend, continues to run with the club and has served as the Hash Keg Master for many years.
Trinity HHH is known for its rich history within the worldwide Hash House Harriers community. The club has been referred to as 'Flash Hash' to distinguish itself from its ancestor club, Cairns HHH, which was established in 1977. Trinity HHH has also spawned a descendant club, Brisbane Southside H3, in 2007.
Trinity Hash House Harriers welcomes individuals aged 18 and above to join their runs. However, no animals are permitted. To get involved, interested individuals can simply turn up at the run venue at 5:45pm and introduce themselves. For further information, they can contact the GM, Helmet, or reach out to the club via email.
Trinity HHH invites all fitness enthusiasts, both locals and visitors, to explore the scenic Cairns region while enjoying the camaraderie and rewards that come with being a part of the club. On On!
