About

Transplant Australia WA is a sports club located in the City of Busselton, Western Australia. The club offers a wide range of social and recreational activities for its members, including community events, group sporting activities, and participation in the Australian Transplant Games. Members come from various backgrounds, including donor families, those awaiting transplantation, transplant recipients, and living donors.

The TAWA committee is highly active in the community, organising events such as sausage sizzles, street appeals, and festival stalls to promote organ and tissue donation. They work closely with DonateLife to encourage people to register as organ donors and provide support to members in need. Sporting, recreation, and social programmes are a significant focus of Transplant Australia WA, with regular weekend getaways for families, social events, and teams participating in community sporting events.

The club also organises regular health and fitness activities, including petanque, walking, lawn bowls, ten pin bowling, and darts. They are also proud to offer the Student Scholarship Programme, which has assisted 13 children since its establishment in 2011.

Transplant Australia WA invites individuals in various categories, including those awaiting transplant, receiving dialysis treatment, recipients, living donors, family members of deceased donors, medical professionals, and supporters, to attend their events on a “come and try” basis. The club has a supportive community in Western Australia and values the opportunity to come together and have a great time.

Those interested in joining the club or learning more about Transplant Australia WA can contact a committee member at any time for information. The club looks forward to welcoming new members and seeing them at their next event.

Some upcoming events include a Junior Activity Camp for kids aged 10–17 years, which will take place from 8th to 10th December 2023 at Ern Halliday Holiday Camp in Whitford. Additionally, there are weekly events such as sunset petanque on Tuesdays at Subiaco Petanque Club and walking sessions on Mondays at Dome Café, Deepwater Point, and on Wednesdays at Lake Monger in West Leederville.

Transplant Australia WA also holds regular information and education sessions covering a range of topics relevant to its members. These sessions provide valuable knowledge and resources to help members navigate their transplant journey.
