Tigers Netball Club

Tigers Netball sprung from the long-established Balmain Rozelle R. S. L. Youth Club which had organised netball participation in the district for many years.

The R. S. L. Club was closing and a dedicated group of netball enthusiasts decided to join with another small group from Abbotsford Sports Netball Club and form a “boutique club” which came to be named Tigers Netball Club.

Our “small” club proved to be so popular that we entered 25 teams in the Western Suburbs District Netball Association in our first year.

The original Office Bearers were Lyn Chalk (President), Laurie Bissaker (Secretary), Karen Hewson (Vice President / Umpires Convenor), Denise Phillipson (Treasurer), Guilia Bonaddio (Coaching Convenor), Sally Bell (Promotions / Publicity Officer) and Shirley Prideaux (Gear Steward).

Our Club has grown in stature and our reputation is envied by many of the opposing Clubs within the now Inner Western Suburbs Netball Association.

Most of our original executive are still serving our Club and our Secretary Laurie Bissaker was honoured by the NSW Netball Association in 2003 by being awarded the Anne Clarke Service Award.
