Welcome to The Fly Fisher's Club of Tasmania, the leading flyfishing club in Launceston, Tasmania. Established in 1955, the club recently celebrated its 50th anniversary and continues to thrive with approximately 120 active members from a diverse range of backgrounds.
At The Fly Fisher's Club of Tasmania, we share a common love for the trout fishery, ecology, bush walking, and the preservation of wilderness areas in Tasmania. Our club actively engages with the wider community and participates in state and local community initiatives to promote angling in Tasmania. We believe that community involvement is crucial in maintaining a healthy Tasmanian fishery, fostering angling experiences with the youth, and promoting flyfishing as a highly rewarding recreational activity.
Joining our club offers members the opportunity to connect with like-minded fly fishers who are all dedicated to broadening their experiences and pursuits with the long wand. Whether you are a seasoned angler or new to fly-fishing, our club provides a supportive and inclusive community where members can learn, share knowledge, and improve their fly-fishing skills.
Our club meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 1-3 Chant Street in East Launceston. Meetings start at 7:30pm and usually conclude before 10:00pm, giving members ample time to socialise, discuss fishing techniques, and plan future angling trips.
In addition to our regular meetings, The Fly Fisher's Club of Tasmania organises various upcoming events throughout the year. These events include fishing trips, fly tying workshops, and social gatherings that allow members to connect with fellow fly fishers and explore new fishing spots. We also have club shacks available for members to use, providing a base camp for fishing excursions to Tasmania's pristine rivers and lakes.
Our club publishes newsletters and articles, keeping members updated on the latest fishing news, conservation efforts, and upcoming events. We also share fly tying tips and techniques, ensuring that members can enhance their skills and tie their own flies for a successful fishing experience.
If you are passionate about flyfishing and want to join a vibrant and supportive community in Tasmania, we invite you to become a member of The Fly Fisher's Club of Tasmania. Together, let us preserve our trout fishery and enjoy the beauty of Tasmania's wilderness through the art of fly-fishing.
