Tetsuko (Lady of Steel) was started by Claire Scullin back in 2002, to cater for an increasing number of females who wanted to learn the art of Muay Thai. As the classes grew in popularity, male students began enquiring about joining in too and so began the popular classes that exist today. These classes compliment the existing freestyle martial arts classes, fitness/crossfit style classes, BJJ, MMA and Box'n'Burn classes that are also on offer at The Dojo. The fitness, pad work, sparring, technique and respect taught during every session ensures that students are provided with a well-rounded martial arts journey – as well as getting fit, having fun and making some great new friends.
Claire has become well known within the martial arts and combat sports fraternity having won several state and Australasian awards; represented Australia as a Referee and Judge at international competitions; trained numerous amateur fighters (with a very good win percentage); worked for the Combat Sports Commission in WA and has held the position of highest ranked female in the Zen Do Kai family in Western Australia for numerous years. Claire also strongly believes in cross-training (triathlon) and taking part in events that give back to the community (she is ALWAYS organising teams for fun runs, bike rides and charity events such as Tough Mudder – be prepared to join in!
