Tama Ocean Swim Squad, affectionately known as TOSS, is a prestigious sports club located in Sydney, Australia. Situated at Tamarama Beach, nestled between Bondi and Bronte, TOSS is renowned as one of the country's most dangerous patrolled beaches. This tiny, peaceful beach holds a hidden paradise treasured by local residents and sun worshippers.
With the unpredictable surf conditions and a decent rip on most days, Tamarama Beach requires vigilant lifeguarding. That's where TOSS comes in. The club is dedicated to ensuring the safety of beachgoers. During the summer weekends from October to April, around 160 active members, including surfers, bodyboarders, and swimmers, participate in patrols, as well as support the club in various ways.
Members of TOSS constantly upgrade their skills base and physical condition through regular training to effectively patrol the beach. Activities such as IRB (Inflatable Rescue Boat), TOSS (Tamarama Ocean Swim Squad), and lifesaving training and competitions keep the members engaged and at the top of their game.
The TOSS clubhouse, situated on the north side of the beach, offers breathtaking views of the surf and down the coast. The club's charm and warm camaraderie are enjoyed by loyal members, and new members are encouraged to join this close-knit community.
Exciting news is on the horizon for TOSS as the club's much-anticipated clubhouse upgrade has received approval from Waverley Council. The architects entrusted with this preservation and sensitive upgrade are the internationally renowned Choi Ropiha Fighera Architects. The upgrade aims to protect the beloved club while improving its facilities.
To maintain the proud tradition of Surf Life Saving, which TOSS has been a part of for over a century, the club seeks ongoing sponsorship and donations. By contributing financially to Tamarama SLSC, individuals and businesses can support the day-to-day operations and help ensure that no lives are lost on Tamarama Beach.

With the start of the long-awaited clubhouse renovations, TOSS is excited about the future. The club's leaders recently handed over the keys to the builders, marking the momentous occasion after 14 years of planning and fundraising. In attendance were esteemed guests such as Waverley Mayor Paula Masselos, Federal MP Dave Sharma, and the architects from Chrofi Architects, Steve Figherea and Tai Ropiha. This renovation will not only benefit the lifesavers but will also become an essential community asset for the Tamarama and Waverley community.
