At Sydney Aquanatal® in Rockdale, we offer fun and safe water-based exercise classes specifically designed for pregnant women and those in the postnatal period. Our classes are led by midwives and specially trained Aquanatal® instructors, ensuring that all exercises are appropriate and safe for every stage of pregnancy.
Our classes include a variety of exercises, including cardio and strengthening exercises, core and balance exercises, gentle stretching, relaxation, and birth preparation. Pelvic floor exercises and education are also integrated into every class.
Our classes take place in small groups, with a maximum of 12 participants, allowing us to provide personalised attention and adjust exercises to individual needs and circumstances. The instructor is in the water with you throughout the class, ensuring your safety and providing guidance.
You can join our Aquanatal® classes from 12 weeks of pregnancy and resume after a six-week break following the birth of your baby. We offer classes at various venues throughout Sydney, and bookings are essential as places are limited. You can join anytime during the term if availability allows.
There are numerous benefits to participating in Aquanatal® exercise. Exercising in water makes movement and relaxation easier, particularly in the later stages of pregnancy. The feeling of weightlessness in water cushions your body against jarring, and research has shown that Aquanatal exercise can reduce and prevent lower back pain more effectively than land-based exercise.
In addition to the physical benefits, Aquanatal® classes promote positive body awareness and serve as birth preparation exercises. These classes also provide an opportunity to meet and build a support network with other expectant and new mums.
