Years as a midwife in a large maternity hospital, where I taught Aquanatal classes to pregnant women and new mothers. This experience further solidified my belief in the benefits of Aquanatal and inspired me to start my own Aquanatal business in Sydney.
At Sydney Aquanatal, we offer fun and safe water-based exercise classes specifically designed for pregnancy and postnatal recovery. Our classes are led by experienced midwives who are also specially trained Aquanatal instructors. We understand the unique needs and challenges that pregnant women face and tailor our exercises accordingly.
Our classes include a combination of cardio and strengthening exercises, core and balance exercises, gentle stretching, relaxation, and birth preparation. We also emphasise the importance of pelvic floor exercises and education to ensure the overall well-being of our participants. Each class is small and personal, with a maximum of 12 participants, allowing for individualised attention and support.
One of the key benefits of Aquanatal is that it is performed in water, which makes it easier to move, exercise, and relax the body, especially in the later stages of pregnancy. The buoyancy of the water also provides a feeling of weightlessness and cushions the body against jarring during exercise. Research has shown that Aquanatal exercise can effectively reduce and prevent lower back pain in pregnancy better than land-based exercises.
In addition to the physical benefits, Aquanatal classes also promote positive body awareness and serve as a form of birth preparation. We believe in creating a supportive and inclusive environment where expectant and new mothers can connect with each other and build their support network.
Our classes are held at various venues around Sydney, and bookings are essential as places are limited. We offer flexibility, allowing you to join anytime during the term if there is availability.
