Welcome to the Sunshine Coast Sportfishing Club Inc. Located in Sunshine Coast, we are a social and family-oriented fishing club that welcomes anglers of all levels, from beginners to experienced fishers. Our club aims to foster a sense of fellowship and learning, providing opportunities for members to develop their fishing skills and knowledge while promoting sustainable fishing practises and boating safety.
At Sunshine Coast Sportfishing Club Inc. , we offer various activities and resources to enhance our members' fishing experience. We hold monthly members' meetings, targeted workshops, and encourage the exchange of learnings between club members. These platforms allow our members to interact, share tips and techniques, and learn from one another.
While the club has a strong social aspect, we also have a competitive nature. We organise regular club competitions, fish of the month competitions, and annual awards. Our competitions take place in a range of environments, including fresh water impoundments, estuaries, beaches, and offshore areas. We offer both local area competitions and camping away formats.
Competitions usually span a weekend and conclude with a Sunday afternoon weigh-in and social gathering.
Being an ANSA affiliated club, we adhere to the rules and guidelines set by the national body, embracing their motto of Sport, Conservation, Integrity. We closely collaborate with the ANSA Qld Branch, making use of their available resources. Additionally, we engage with other ANSA Qld clubs through formal and informal interactions.
To facilitate communication and information sharing, we maintain a Private Facebook Group exclusive to Sunshine Coast Sportfishing Club members. This platform serves as a forum for members to share their fishing experiences, upcoming trips, competitions, photos, and other points of interest.
Sunshine Coast Sportfishing Club Inc. also takes the opportunity to recognise and appreciate the contributions of past committee members. At our October 2023 meeting, President Howard Morris presented appreciation awards to Brian Fawcett, Noel Platt, Victor Guse, and Brendan Moore, who played instrumental roles in building our club.
We are currently gearing up for our Flathead Frenzy event, which is scheduled from October 13th to 15th, 2023. Members are encouraged to log their catches prior to November 5th to be eligible for competition prizes. The event features different prize categories, including the longest flathead and the total combined length of two or one flathead. We are also conducting a random draw for a $20 voucher for a flathead entered via the ANSA Qld portal.
Our next Monthly Members Meeting will be held on November 14th, 2023, at the Waterfront Hotel in Diddillibah. The meeting will commence at 7:00pm, but members are welcome to arrive earlier at 5:45pm to enjoy a meal and mingle with fellow club members. If you would like to reserve a table for the pre-meeting gathering, feel free to contact us via email or message.
