About

Strathalbyn Golf Club, located in the beautiful hills of Strathalbyn, is a small and vibrant country golf club that has been welcoming visitors for over a century. Established in 1897, it is one of the oldest country clubs in the state and prides itself on its warm and friendly atmosphere.

Nestled among ancient gum trees, the club offers a picturesque 9-hole course with challenging greens that will test the skills of even the most seasoned golfer. The course layout can be viewed on the club's website, along with the scorecard for reference.

Visitors are encouraged to join in on the regular competitions held at the club. Wednesday mornings are reserved for the ladies' competition, which tees off at 8:00 am. Meanwhile, the men's 12-hole competition takes place on Wednesday afternoons at 1:00 pm. On Saturdays, the men's competition runs from 7:00 am to 9:00 am and 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.

If you're not a member but would like to experience the Strathalbyn Golf Club, green fees are $15 for 9 holes and $25 for 18 holes. However, frequent visitors may want to consider becoming a member, as the club offers very reasonable subscription fees.

In addition to golf, the club also hosts various events and activities throughout the year. One such event is the annual Ham and Turkey Day, a 4-person Hambrose event held on the 16th of December. Participants can enjoy a delicious breakfast before the 9:00 am shotgun start, with prices set at $25 per member and $35 per non-member. The event promises plenty of fun and Christmas cheer, with prizes awarded for the best Christmas dress-up.

For those who can't make it during the day, the club also offers Twilight Golf starting from the 3rd of November. This is a 9-hole stableford competition that takes place between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. The entry fee is $3, and the winner gets to take home a chicken.

Strathalbyn Golf Club takes pride in its rich history. It was one of the nine foundation members of the South Australian Golf Association in 1904. Famous players such as Guy Stirling, who won the South Australian Amateur Championship in 1908, and Ben Castle, the South Australian Country Champion from 1910 to 1920, have represented the club. The club's history page provides more detailed information on its early days.

Whether you're a seasoned golfer or just beginning your golfing journey, Strathalbyn Golf Club welcomes all to enjoy its stunning course and friendly atmosphere. Join in on the competitions, become a member, or simply visit for a round of golf amidst the tranquilly of the Adelaide Hills.
