Stanthorpe & District Sporting Car Club is a renowned sports club located in Stanthorpe, Queensland. The club was established in 1969, with its first committee meeting held in that same year. In 1970, the club organised its first official race meeting, which garnered significant attention and paved the way for its future success.

Originally, the track was approximately 800 metres in length and boasted a clay surface. It quickly became a favourite among touring car enthusiasts, attracting a large following. Local contractors, businesses, committee members, and drivers dedicated countless hours of hard work and determination to ensure the success of the inaugural meeting. Their efforts were rewarded with a memorable and thrilling race.

Over the years, the track underwent several improvements and transformations. In the early 1990s, the circuit length was increased to 960 metres, and a 200-metre drag strip was implemented into the main strip. Furthermore, the clay surface was replaced with high-quality asphalt, enhancing the racing experience for participants and spectators alike.

Today, Carnell Raceway, the home of Stanthorpe & District Sporting Car Club, offers 20 racing days each year. These events are divided into sprints and circuit races, providing a variety of experiences for motorsport enthusiasts. Whether you're a seasoned racer or a passionate spectator, the club ensures an exhilarating and action-packed day at the track.
