St. Elizabeth’s Catholic School is a reputable sports club located in Brisbane, Australia. With a focus on fostering a love for sports and promoting physical well-being, the club offers a wide range of sporting programmes and events for students of all ages.
One of the highlights of the club is its swimming programme. Students in Years 1-6 have the opportunity to participate in swimming lessons, which are conducted at the Yeronga Swimming Pool by trained coaches. These lessons take place during a 5-day block in Term 1 and Term 4, with Prep students joining in during Term 4. In addition to regular swimming lessons, Year 6 students also engage in a Water Polo lesson.
The club ensures the safety of its students during swimming lessons by providing transportation to and from the pool by bus, and children are encouraged to wear sunscreen and sun-safe swimwear.
Another key aspect of the club's sporting programme is the annual swimming carnival. The Years 4-6 swimming carnival is held in Term 1, allowing children to use their times to determine nominations for the Catholic Schools Carnival. The Years P-3 swimming carnival, on the other hand, takes place in Term 4. Junior school swimming carnivals are usually held at the Yeronga Swimming Pool, while senior school swimming carnivals utilise the Griffith University Swimming Pool.
The club also participates in the Catholic Schools Swimming Carnival, which involves children from Years 4-7 and selected Year 3 students who meet the age group criteria. Additionally, an interschool swimming carnival is organised for schools in the cluster area comprising Catholic Schools at Annerley, Dutton Park, Moorooka, Salisbury, and Yeronga. Students from Years 4-6 are encouraged to participate in this event, which typically takes place in either Term 1 or Term 4.
In addition to swimming, St. Elizabeth’s Catholic School also offers various other sports programmes and events, including athletics. The club organises sports carnivals where students can showcase their athletic abilities. These events provide an opportunity for students to compete against their peers from other schools in the cluster area and encourage them to participate and give their best effort.
Awards and trophies are given out at these events to recognise individual achievements.
With its commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, St. Elizabeth’s Catholic School provides an enriching sports club experience for students. Through its range of sporting programmes and events, the club aims to instil a sense of sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth in its students while fostering a love for sports that will last a lifetime.
